'lingam: 121 contemporary fertility symbols' is an exhibition that brings together artists
of various backgrounds to showcase alternate interpretations of the lingam. historically
made as a phallic shaped object in wood or stone, the lingam is a symbol of life and fertility. 

in hindu or budhist culture, it is seen as a worshipped and revered force linked
to sexual energy. meanwhile, in the western culture, it is mainly interpreted as a symbol
of lust and sex. in curating this exhibition, the show seeks to showcase the true origins
of the lingam and shed some light on its sacred context.

participating artists include frédéric braham, sam tho duong, ted noten and
johanna schweizer amongst many others.
