julie moon: pretty pleas



canadian ceramic artist julie moon has completed a new body of work titled ‘pretty pleas’, which was
recently exhibited at the fosdick nelson gallery. the new series focuses on abstract representations of the
body, which moon project personalities onto. while no piece is a literal body part, rolls of fat, breasts,
bellies and bottoms become quietly apparent. the pieces are all based on ceramic foundations that moon
paints and builds on with glazes, decals and found objects like flower, ribbons and ruffles.
