dave rittinger: zero footprint shirts - leaf series

'zero footprint shirts: leaf series'

brooklyn-based designer and artist dave rittinger has developed a series of five shirts
made from various colored leaves. the 'zero footprint shirts: leaf series' is an exercise
in embracing ecological consciousness, illustrating how beautiful and also unpractical
extremes can sometimes be.

lovely! don't know what to say.. I Think wood is one of the most amazing materials, but it's nice to se how other parts of the trees can be used.

it's a lovely communication project from a great communication designer. it should be pointed out in this article that rittinger is not a product designer or a fashion designer because looking at this project under the wrong light could really compromise its meaning. just my opinion though.

wouldn't it be better if the model were a woman?

I'm with "Randy"- he is a designer/conceptual artist, not a fashion designer and I feel there is a bit of a parody in this piece as a critique toward the often-occurring absurdity of the fashion world- perhaps I am the only one to see that facet of this work. No less, it's great to see this artist highlighted, he has some other great works on his website daverittinger.com. I especially love the red-leaf shirt. This piece reminds me of relishing in natures beauty as a child, jumping into leaf piles and covering myself up to my neck. Beautiful.

Yeah, sorry, I just thought the choices of an artist and designer had nothing to do with the fantasies of guys around fashion...

well, if you go a step further, you can say that by picking green leaves you reduce the transformation of CO2 to oxygen, therefore increasing the volume of CO2.
