dutch visual artist paul segers created ‘meanwhile, in the agricultural sector…’ for the exhibition ‘beeld hal werk‘ in an old industrial hall in amsterdam which included some 59 sculptors works. the idea for the work came from louis-ferdinand celine’s ‘death on credit’ where a pseudo scientist wants to increase the size and quantity of his crops by radiating the land with an expensive electronic system, only to harvest small rotten and maggot-infested potatoes. the modern version of the land scanner/beamer is being towed by the artist on a 1952 caterpillar bulldozer.
