new york gallery eli klein fine art presents 'the invisible man,' an exhibition of work by chinese artist liu bolin.
the performance artist is previously known for his 'hiding in the city' series, in which he concealed himself throughout beijing,
so for this stateside show, bolin has produced new portraits of himself camouflaged in new york city locations:
kenny scharf's mural on houston and bowery, a newspaper stand constructed inside the gallery, and the financial district's landmark bull statue.

I would argue that the artists are his assistants - the ones doing the (incredible) painting. While he stands there. I guess he came up with the concept, so that makes him the artist. ??

yes, i think that makes him the artist! and his assistants great painters

To come up with an idea and concept, to take the first step towards its realization, to employ other artists or painters (whom get paid regardless the outcome or sucsess/failure of such a project) this is what makes a true artist. Just standing there? NO! All the hard work was done before the 'artists' (in your opinion) painted a 'standing man'.
