madrid-born artist-designer jaime hayon has created 'testa mecanica' for glasstress 2011. translating from the spanish as 'mechanical heads,'
this trio of handblown glass sculptures resemble whimsical cartoon heads with industrial gear-like forms inside. the vessels are mounted on
wooden bases and are made up of spherical bodies with protruding, funnel-shaped 'noses,' each personified in a different color.
together they exhibit an offbeat playfulness, acting as a contemporary application and interpretation of murano glass work.
