studying graphic design, I’d felt like I was forever designing mock-ups, and suddenly, there I was making something. – mike perry

content ‘pulled: a catalog of screen printing’ by mike perry takes a look at how the technique still has relevance in the world of graphic design.
due to the convenience associated with digital printing, this method of reproducing has become less popular, however,
some designers still see the value of having a medium that shows the texture, layering, and imperfections associated with
creating their work by hand. although their method of creation is similar, each artist featured has found their own visual language.
david maron’s work focuses more on form, whereas daniel leudtke explores the layering and texture that can be achieved through
screen printing.

although digitally printing a book that is about hand printing could have been problematic, the images manage to maintain their
integrity and unique quality through the way they were photographed. the vast visual content of the book is great both for those
knowledgeable about the field as well as for those curious about design. the integrated ‘how-to’ section provides readers with the
step-by-step process to create their own poster.
is it for me?

if you enjoy flipping through a hand held art gallery of both visually pleasing yet potent and relevant works by different designers,

this book is for you. if you are already acquainted with screen printing, graphic design or art, this book is a reference library of
visual information and ideas.
