‘the scholar’ by nick georgiou

an exhibition by tuscon-based artist nick georgiou, is presented at temple of music and art, arizona. his cut-paper body of work is comprised almost entirely of printed paper. the pieces are formed mostly from local newspapers of the area in which the sculpture was constructed; this is in order to connect the authenticity of the piece to its intended display environment. georgiou’s work implores the viewer to question the slow demise of the printed word. his collection is an appreciation of a literary medium that is considered by some to be a relic of the past as the modern public continues down the seemingly digital-preference path we have carved.
