'dendroid' by los angeles-based deconstructivist artist toban nichols is a series of landscape photographs
that have been altered and redefined through error-like distortions of pixels. read as floating objects
within the remote and idyllic scenery, the crystallized forms are jarring yet relevant to its environment.

pulling stretches of colours and patterns into a chaotic cluster, the two-dimensional object provides
a kaleidoscopic effect that reflects fragments of the landscape back on itself. the intervention enables
viewers to perceive the image in an irregular yet holistic manner.

wow, photoshop.

Actually "Blegerpe", the images were not made in Photoshop, it's a process involving the overtaxing of the computer's processor then recording and combining those results...a bit more complicated than you might expect.

Toban,
Since this article doesn't explain the ingenuity behind the process, most will brush this off without realizing it's different. Could you explain it further, or provide links to pages that do so?
Rob Sawatsky   11.09.11
Thanks for asking Rob, I don't want to go into too many details about the process as it's a proprietary invention of my own. But basically, it involves running several programs concurrently on a computer w/out proper processing power to do so. Physical motion causes the computer to "error" in it's processor or CPU and create a frozen, hand- manipulated image. I make several of these and combine them together to create the finished work.
