'freja universe', one of the cross-stitched fashion ads created by inge jacobsen for georg jensen

in her first major collaborative project, irish-danish-born, england-based artist inge jacobsen has reworked
photographer sebastian faena's autumn/winter 2011 fashion campaign for the jewelry collection of
historic danish manufacturers georg jensen. the artist cross-stiches over the eight photographs of the series,
which features danish model freja beha erichsen, navigating the divides across realistic imagery, traditional craft,
and contemporary design. jacobsen's works compose the spring / summer 2012 campaign for the company.

jacobsen spent 2,000 hours cross-stitching the eight images of the campaign, with the assistance of students
at the royal school of needlework at hampton court. the pieces use coats plc anchor thread.

jacobsen's works for the campaign both fully and partially stitched pictures, effecting an interesting interplay
between the photograph and overlain thread. the series will be on exhibition at georg jensen stores during
the upcoming fashion weeks in copenhagen, new york, and london, before continuing to travel to flagship
locations worldwide.
