brazilian creative studio almapbbdo has created a one minute stop-motion advertisement portraying a love and life story told through a collection of photographs entitled ‘from love to bingo in 873 images’ for getty images. at fifteen images per second, the short film flies through the assemblage of stock images from getty’s archive beginning with the meeting of two individuals, then picturing their courtship, building of a family, the death of one partner, and the widower winning a great sum of money in a game of bingo, living the remainder of his years in opulence.

for the making of ‘from love to bingo in 873 images’, the crew sorted through over 5,000 photographs, precisely pairing the getty images archive findings in a manner which transforms the separate stills into a flowing film by the showing the fifteen images per second. ‘from love to bingo in 873 images’ tells a cohesive story, yet, the film is in fact formed form a number of images which, based on content alone have very little connection. however, by placing a numbered hanging indent on each image indicating the number and by matching photos with similar composition and shading, a love and life story is able to be recognized quite clearly. the project was born from the concept that getty images has such an expansive database that with a little imagination and implementation, anyone may tell a story through the use of their stills.
