noémie goudal: haven her body was edel assanti, london, england on september 13th until the 14th of october, 2012

paris-born and london-based artist noémie goudal has just released a new installment to her series ‘haven her body was’. the artist’s photographic exploration investigates the relationship humans have with abandoned spaces, hidden landscapes and both natural and man-made shelters. congruous with goudal’s earlier pieces, this new collection of images beacons the viewer into her nostalgic, imaginative world constructed from site-specific mixed-media installations for ‘haven her body was’. the serene and remote natural scenes featured in each large-scale display are exhibited within discarded industrial settings, then photographed as an alternative or ‘make-believe’ landscape. goudal’s initial printed visual portraying shelters in each frame are showcased within equally lonely surroundings, developing an art environment existing in its own right.
