contrasts gallery at design miami/ basel 2008
'cleanliness is next to godliness' by studio makkink & bey
shanghai's contrasts gallery will be showing three individual exhibitions during the upcoming design miami/ basel
2008 in basel, switzerland. maarten baas, shao fan and studio makkink & bey (a joint venture between
rianne makkink and jurgen bey) will all be showcasing their work at the exhibition from june 2-5.
studio makkink & bey will be showing, 'cleanliness is next to godliness' as series of cleaning cabinets
influenced by the art of chinese propaganda posters. meanwhile, shao fan will be exhibiting pieces such as
'work no. 2 of year 2006' an assemblage of chinese antiques and modern materials. finally, dutch designer
maarten baas will present 'plastic chair in wood' a mixture of chinese crafts and the concept of 'knock-offs'.
this project was previously featured at baas' milan design week show.
