'night watch' by wokmedia with contrasts gallery



wokmedia and contrasts gallery will present a special installation during the upcoming 100% design shanghai
which runs from june 26-28. designers julie mathias and wolfgang kaeppner are the london-based designers
behind wokmedia. they will be presenting ‘night watch’ a light installation which uses ‘inside painting’ a traditional
form of chinese art where the image is painted in reverse through a small hole in a vessel. in the case of
‘night watch’ crystal balls were painted and illuminated to create the impression of animal eyes. 100 sets of animal
eyes will make up the piece, spread throughout nature.
