paul mccarthy: central symmetrical rotation movement three installations, two films

from: on view until october 12, 2008

typically known for his mix of sculpture, performance art and video injected with maximum shock value, paul mccarthy’s current exhibition at the whitney takes a different spin. no, seriously. the gallery space displays individual domestic spaces which on first glance appear normal, but end up playing with the viewer’s perception through spinning mirrors, rotating walls, projections and altered spaces. the work produces a cacophony of sounds and chaotic visuals resulting in a completely disorienting space.
