‘constructing visions for kublai khan’, 2008

artist lauren clay was raised in the suburbs of atlanta, Georgia. this upbringing is
a main influence in her work. in her words, her art is an attempt to ‘alleviate symptoms
of lost cultural identity, inauthentic place, and sightlessness’. she creates drawings as
well of sculptural installation made from paper, which are hand built and painted in flat
monochrome colours.

her work is on show in ‘stable scrawl; works on paper’ at larissa goldston gallery in
new york until august 9th and is also included in ‘paper chasers’ at artworks gallery
in cincinnati, ohio until september 5th.
