‘traffic jam for berlin’, 2008 (museum osnabreuk, germany)

U.S.-born, london-educated artist brad downey currently makes berlin his home. his work explores
individual agency in the urban environment. rather than adding graffiti or art to the streets, downey
chooses to alter or transform aspects which already exist. his work is most often done without
permission and he chronicles the difficulties of this on his website. while he has recently completed
more projects suited for the gallery context, most of his work is done in context on the street using
the signs and infrastructure which is already there.
