the peabody essex museum in salem, massechsetts ended their year long exhibition ‘origami now’ in june.
the show featured examples of the paper folding art. while origami originated in asia it is now practice by
artists around the world. however this exhibition explored a side of origami that extends beyond the paper
crane. the curators selected a variety of origami which depicted elements of nature, self-portraits and even
abstract works. they also showed how origami has influenced other arts, such as design, medicine and math.
