american artist alexander calder is most famous for creating mobile sculptures. in 1926 he moved to paris
to further develop his career. during this period he created 'circus' a series of figurative, moveable sculptures
made from wire, wood, cork, leather and hand sewn fabric. the whitney museum has recently opened
an exhibition dedicated to his work in the paris years. over 265 objects are on display including illustrations,
wire sculptures and toys.
