italian artist michelangelo pistoletto is currently showing new mirro based works at new york's
luhring augustine gallery. the show is the artist’s first major solo show in the city in almost 10 years
and his first with the gallery. pistoletto is a major part of the arte povera movement that began in the
sixties. mirrors have always been a reoccurring theme in his work and have given him his
established reputation. this new series of mirror work feature life size screen printings of people
and pieces of urban infrastructure. the mirrors are arranged facing each other in the gallery,
reflecting each one back and forth added many dimensions to the pieces.
