explosure: recent photographs by tierney gearon
phillips de pury & company, londonjanuary 6 – 28, 2009
a new collection of work by photographer tierney gearon will be on show at the london auction house
of phillips de pury & company. the new works are large scale photographs using a new process for
the artist. each work uses the classic method of double exposure, where two images are overlaid
one on top of the other. the photos in each piece are carefully selected so that they interact with each
other creating unusual juxtapositions. the individual photos feature the artist as well as her children
and friends, set against landscape backdrops form all over the worlds. while each photo may be
banal alone, when combined with another the interaction sparks new interest. 40 of these works will
be on show in the artist’s first solo show in london.
