threshold: forging narratives in south asian contemporary art

beginning february 19th, new york’s aicon gallery will present a group show of artists represented by the
gallery titled, ‘threshold: forging narratives in south asian contemporary art.’ while indian art has been
slowly emerging for some time, large-scale survey shows are now being held at gallery’s like japan's mori
art museum and serpentine gallery. at this pivotal point in the history of indian art, aicon gallery aims to
articulate the multiplicity and diversity of the country_s art scene. this show intends to offer knowledge
about indian art, while also questioning the established understanding. eleven artists are included in the
show, each showing work which explore representation, subjectivity and identity. to fully question the|
understanding of indian art, the gallery has also included pakistani artists.
