korean artist yeondoo jung is currently exhibiting his project entitled 'handmade memories'
at the tina kim gallery in new york. comprised of six, dual-channel videos, handmade memories
continues the artist's ongoing investigation into the subjective instability of memory as well as
the tenuous authenticity of mechanically-produced images.

jung was born in 1969 in jinju, south korea and received his MFA from goldsmiths college
in 1997. he was the recipient of the 2007 artist of the year award, given annually by the national
museum of contemporary art in seoul. his photographs and videos can be found in important
collections worldwide, including the museum of modern art (new york), the national museum of
contemporary art (seoul), the essl museum of contemporary art (vienna), and the RISD museum
(providence, RI).
the show runs till 28th march, 2009.
kwang mo: ball
by placing the same image of a red ball in different contexts, all captured in the same muted, dreamy photographic style, kwang mo recalls the sensation of fleeting memories, transforming slightly in each moment.
do ho suh at lehmann maupin gallery
the series of sculptural works reflects the artist's investigation of themes surrounding cultural displacement and the co-existence of cultural identities, and how one is able to construct memory from a space.
yong ho ji: hybrid-human tire sculptures
examining genetically modified organisms and darwin's evolutionary theory, this sculpture series uses layers of recycled tire strips to depict mutant creatures that hybridize animal and human qualities.
prix pictet 2011 exhibition
an exhibition for the shortlist of photographers in the 2011 prix pictet photography and sustainability competition will be held at the passage de retz gallery in paris from march 17th to april 16th.
recreating children's drawing by yeondoo jung
after the artist collected over 1,000 drawings, a select few were selected and turned into reality through a series of photo shoots titled 'wonderland'. the results are just as fascinating as the original drawings.
