may 2 – june 28, 2009
derby based artist vanessa larmond will begin her new show ‘whittled spoons in woven socks’ at the hub
beginning may 2nd. larmond is the winner of this year’s hub innovation award, being awarded a bursary
and her own solo show organized in collaboration with the hub in their window space. the exhibit will
feature a series of 23 delicate wooden spoons each adorned with a small hand-woven cover. laramond
developed this work out of her passion for basketry, translating traditional basket making techniques into
textiles. the various pieces are all brand new and play with variations in size, shape and colour.
