steve bishop: fluorescent art

‘hitting me where it hurts most’, 2009

toronto-born, london based artist steve bishop crafts his sculptural installations using fluorescent lights.
bishop transforms everyday item into surreal objects by altering their materials. mirrors, clothes racks
and folding screens take on new meaning when parts are replaced with the lights. in these works,
bishop plays with light, only adding colour in small elements hanging off the works. in doing this he
urges the viewer to re-examine these familiar objects.
