hubert blanz is a german artist who lives and works in vienna where he creates intricate photo
manipulations. ‘x-plantation is one of his most recent series featuring collages made from aerial photographs
of airports. blanz collects these images from the internet and digitally sews them together to create dynamic
compositions that sit in between two and three dimensions. the results are smooth images that maintain an
element of the surreal. each photo is stripped of its original context and becomes a simple graphic element.
