as part of the beijing 798 biennale artist bai yiluo is currently exhibiting his work at pekin fine arts, china.

‘demons’ is a sculptural installation constructed as a large mound that rotates on a horizontal skewer. the biomorphic shape is reminiscent of roast mutton kebabs which are sold on the streets of beijing. exhibition visitors are invited to turn the handle and rotate the skewered mound.

the exterior of the large skewered mound is covered with a collage of images of wristwatches taken from magazine ads, lacquered together with a slightly glossy surface. the interior was constructed using styrofoam stuffing and papier-mache from found materials.
