the latest show by japanese sculptor susumu shingu recently finished at galerie jaeger bucher, paris.
well-known in japan, shingu regularly collaborates with designers such as renzo piano, tadao ando
and issey miyake. shingu’s sculptures are often monumental and interact with the forces of nature.
his process is research based, deriving works from observing nature directly. many of his wind
sculptures were on show, offering different interpretations on movement. also included in the show
was a diorama of ‘breathing earth’, a self-sufficient building project using energy from the wind,
sun and water.
