maria cristina bellucci: pencil crayon jewelry

maria cristina bellucci worked for many years as a theatre costume designer and now creates her
own jewelrymade from coloured pencils. the pieces are made using fragments of pencils that have
been attached together and formed into a variety of shapes. the forming process reveal the interiors
of the pencils, showcasing the wood and the coloured lead.

I want every single one of her rings cos rings are really the only jewelry worth bothering with and those rings are rings to end all rings.

Seems like rings would make a colorful mess when handling anything, unless it was lacquered. (Doesn't look like it)

question for a man (not woman):
what characteristics of a good design this jewelry lacks of? i think it's creative, beautiful and generally makes you rethink the classical jewelry (what makes it reflective and contemplative). aren't these all characteristics of a good design?

i have a lot of old and used pencils... i like the concept. i`m very temptend to go "chinese" and start to do works using the same principle and materials, and yes, i think they sould be lacquered...

Looks like the colours will eventually leak due to no final finish (lacquer). On top of that it may not be waterproof. Imagine if it was raining and the colour trickles on to skin/clothes. Afterwards the wood may decay?
Adliana 11.23.09
Amazing!!!!I need one!!!
Nana 11.23.09
piece of jewellery is not necesserly an eternal object..there is a lot of plastic jewelley which is not scratch proof, or paper jewellery which is not water proof, but is considered to be very good design..like his one..
I.S 11.24.09
genial!!! me encanto
celina 11.24.09
I really like it quite a lot., I like the idea that each one of them will be absolutely different. But I hope there is some sort of protection on the top to keep the jewelry from losing it's looks.
