katharina fritsch at the deichtorhallen - part II

yesterday, we published part I of katharina fritsch's solo exhibition at the deichtorhallen hamburg,
germany. her symbolic sculpture plays on the tension between the familiar, surreal or uncanny,
transformed through the color and the materials which she employs in her work. fritsch often recasts
elements and characteristics from her own, personal world, through an extensive sculptural process,
finishing each of her pieces with a precision and perfection. collectively, her work expresses a
personal and cultural nostalgia which she shares with her viewers.

the show runs until february 7th, 2010.

fritsch's most recent installation - based on postcards, from various cities,
which were sent to her as a child from her grandfather - she has created a surreal garden
which is formally precise and which resonates with both personal and cultural nostalgia.
