‘boompjes’ by ron van der ende, 2009

dutch artist ron van der ende creates art using his own unique technique of assembling salvaged wood
into bas relief images. you may remember his cassette tape pieces we featured back in 2009. since then
van der ende has been hard at work creating new work that depicts a variety of man-made structures,
cars and even diamonds. each sculpture is assembled using hundreds of smaller pieces of wood that are
cut and nailed together to give the illusion of a three-dimensional object.

The works are stunning. Actually, I was really shocked by this post - I've known this artist for a while, but only by sight of the works. I never read about them or anything, just looked. And I always thought they were paintings set into background! Seriously - loved the graphics, how crisp they are, the colours. You opened my eyes today, on all sorts of levels. Wood! This makes it all a thousand times more amazing
