carsten höller's 'divided divided' exhibition at the museum boijmans van beuningen,
netherlands showcases the 'revolving hotel room', in which höller has
outfitted one of the
museum's adjoining galleries as a hotel room. the space includes a bedside table and mini-bar,
mounted on four revolving discs.
while the exhibition is running, visitors will be able to book
this
exclusive room with its constantly changing view. guests in the
'revolving hotel room'
have twenty-four-hour access to the entire
museum. this hotel room was shown previously
in the guggenheim museum
in new york with success.
other works included in the exhibition are a new series of huge complex mushroom replicas -
'triple giant mushrooms'. he has also made 'swinging curve', a floating room from aluminum
and 'singing canaries mobile', an enormous mobile composed of seven birdcages hanging down
from the ceiling, complete with live singing canaries. all the works on show are based on
a simple mathematical formula that divides and redivides the space and the objects into two.
