UK artist antony gormley will make his US public art debut this march when he installs 31 sculptures in
madison square park and on the city’s rooftops. the project, ‘event horizon’, was first installed in london
in 2007 and will be on show in new york from march 26 – august 15, 2010, as presented by mad. sq. art.
the intervention will consists of thirty-one life-size body forms of the artist cast in iron and fiberglass.
these will be installed on pathways and sidewalks in the park and on the buildings above. gormley believes
the project ‘connects the palpable, the perceivable and the imaginable, creating a relational field in which
the passerby as well as the aware viewer is implied in a matrix of looking and being looked at.’
