american artist danieel arsham will be showcasing three new bodies of work in his next exhibition at
galerie emmanuel perrotin in paris. ‘animal architecture’ will feature gouache animal drawings, push
puppets and pixel clouds. the gouache on mylar animal drawings were in particular inspired by etchings
of gustave dore and albrecht durer. the piece each uses this traditional etching-like technique to portray
pieces of modernist architectural ruins next to animals and lush nature. the animals in each piece are used
by arsham to portray what he calls a ‘post-human quality’. each is positioned looking at the architectural
elements, appearing perplexed and intrigued by them. along with this series, arsham will also present
sculptures replicating push puppets from his childhood and clouds made from coloured balls used as
individual pixels
