US? Malarkey. Where's the sausage, corned beef hash, toast with butter, bacon, fried eggs, coffee, and Mimosa?
Keith   03.02.10
UK - No bacon? No black pudding? No grilled tomatoes? No crumpets? Looks like a pretty thin snack to me.
Mike Calder.   03.02.10
I love how everything is presented without a container: no cups, no bowls, no plates. Just the food.
Awesome
Bryan   03.02.10
Epic. Research. Fail. Never ever in my life met anyone from here (Sweden) who ate any kind of fish for breakfast except for our horrible take on caviar made from cod roe.
Buster   03.02.10
What a bad work ...

He did not even include German breakfast
Martin   03.02.10
photos are great. inspired, clever, and humorous.

i do not feel bothered in the slightest by not including every variation...

thank you for sharing these with us.

whatever...

commonly eaten ... herring in Sweden 100 years ago. now, not so much.
ET   03.02.10
I'm curious: are the Russians drinking ice water or vodka with breakfast?
metoo   03.02.10
These are great.

An awesome idea for a series!

Never mind the herring, do Swedes still eat sanding discs for breakfast?
Johnny   03.02.10
I don't see some Huevos Rancheros there!
Lolo   03.02.10
Poor planning but a good execution. A more fitting breakfast for Russia would be a pastry, mors, kielbasa, pelmeni
evg   03.02.10
So many comments are literal, focussing on the content, the items selected.. but these are great photos, great concept, great technique!

Amazing images and very creative use of food. Love it!

wheres the vegemite for the Australians?
Amanda   03.03.10
Beautifully composed photographs, but could have improved with a wider/more interesting selection. What does an Inuit breakfast look like? What about Ugandan, Indonesian, etc., etc.
philippp   03.03.10
These photos were EXTREMELY well done. Did he DROP the food out of the sky and take photos as it fell? Either way, while the food may be under-represented (I'm curious as to why the US breakfast is sans Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, and a Biscuit), the artistic qualities of this work override such objections.
Lance   03.03.10
Love to see the Chinese breakfast photo.
jenny   03.03.10
I didn't know French people eat cigarettes.
Josy   03.03.10
I agree that the photographs are very beautifully taken but it is to bad the research is so poor..Nobody eats fish as breakfast in Sweden! Some do eat the crisp bread, but many more eat cornflakes, milk, porridge, yoghurt, bread with cheese, butter, marmalade...Guess that wasn't so funny to photograph..

I did like the cigaret though, there are a lot of French having a smoke for breakfast..

And yes, it would have been interesting to see more surprising countries as mentioned above
helene   03.03.10
Big idea, great implementation...
zaiviki   03.04.10
Great idea and execution! I hope the folks that take this too literally don't gt you down, can't please everyone so don't bother trying! I find your work as a whole light and airy with a hint of seriousness, I'd love to see more! Your work is really stirring up the noddles in my noggin, *grabs the spatula and opens the fridge* Well done, I applaud yourw efforts!
Happyclam   03.05.10
ooh i think this is so clever and interesting!! love this concept.
caroline   03.05.10
these are grand, thanks.
sauze   03.05.10
In your face, people!

Finland has a swedish speaking minority with their swedish speaking school system and it's a part of a long tradition in Finnish/Finnish-Swedish studentlife to eat herringbreakfast the next morning after a special academic studentparty (sitsit/sitz).
Pilvi   03.05.10
How do people not recognize the tongue-in-cheek dimension of these photographs?
anon   03.05.10
I now understand why Supertramp didn't record "Breakfast in Sweden".
Dan   03.06.10
lol. the swedish does look like a 12" lp

to all the people who say they don't eat what you shot, just tell them this is what YOU'd eat when you are there

i'd love to see more of this. for instance, your take on chilaquiles
chef joaquim   03.06.10
these are beautiful & make me think of the wonderful food still lifes by iriving penn, my favorite photog.
