lauren pascarella is an up-and-coming photographer based in new york and miami who explores
architectural images through her series ‘buildings’. the series features small paper based constructions
that pascarella has created by cutting and pasting images of buildings. somee pieces distort the
architecture in a way that makes them appear miniature, while others look as if they are real. pascarella
reconstructs the images, cutting planes and combining structures to create here own architecture.
like lots of her work, ‘buildings’ demonstrates pascarella’s exploration of link between the signifier
and the signified. by photographing objects made from photographs of real buildings, the viewer is
confronted with layers of context.
