robert law: 'spaghetable' - it's aperitivo time competition shortlisted revealed

'spaghetable' by robert law from china, is one of the 100 shortlisted entries
from our recent designboom competition 'it's aperitivo time' in collaboration with
peroni nastro azzurro and alessi.
inspired by spaghetti & peroni’s beer glass, 'spaghetable' is a stylish bar table as well
as a storage for belongings. the form was created by blending circles & squares
using elastic bands and the hidden tray inside allows you to store purses, handbags,
cell phones etc.
the projects of the competition's shortlisted winners will be exhibited from
september 30th to october 4th, 2009 at the institute of contemporary arts (ICA) in london.
the final results will be revealed after the opening of the show.

This is realllllly a good idea.
Finally I could have my hands free for fingerfood and drinks,
while my purse is kept safe.

It's very creative!I like it a lot!
chiara amato 09.11.09
my gf eve had this idea first..

I like the appearance of it but I am unsure of how practical the shelf is. I can't help think that people are going to end up forgetting things they have left on the little hidden shelf. Plus surely it is safer to keep your belongings on the table where you can see them and not on a communal shelf that is going to be used by other people round the table and that is out of sight?

this thing is more helpful for people who WANT to steal somebody else's stuff, lol.
the robbers will thank you for keeping their hands... private! :)

Nice!

Maybe if the strips are more transparent, to see through, people will not forget their stuff.
Jose Herman 09.11.09
I really like it, much more than the other two entries..
Maybe just the top of the table could be transparent...like a very resistant acrylic or something

I think it is very easy to forget your belongs when you don't see them. Especially when you had a few drinks. So, I don't think it is the most creative idea.
But the table is kinda cute.

I find it a little cheap looking.
Marco 09.11.09
I wonder how this goes when people start to puke because of too many drinks.
master chu 09.11.09
Gigi, I think it would be good if the strips are translucent,
the strips should not hide completely the objects inside, but cover them a bit and help to avoid that things fall on the floor.

Jose (Herman) 09.11.09
This table is pretty elegant and it is is for aperitivo time, not for hard drinking. Maybe difficult to clean, though.
Timothy 09.11.09
@marco I wonder how any product goes when people start puking...?
Mike 09.11.09
it might look better in peroni blue
philips 09.12.09
the idea is so interesting to connect circle shape on top the rectangular on the bottom.
