ittai ilani + adva noach: urban flowers - think outside the parking box competition shortlisted revealed

following in the theme of color and pattern like henrik amberla's 'parking in rainbows',
'PARKing' - urban flowers by ittai ilani and adva noach from israel is another one of the
66 shortlisted entries of designboom's 'think outside the parking box' competition
in collaboration with nissan.

'PARKing' is a public area based on the idea that a car is an urban flower. like a flower,
cars have their own unique shape and color. this is a parking lot in which cars navigate
themselves to designated parking areas according to their color. the result is a colorful
versailles garden-like pattern. alongside the parking spots, there is also a open green area
to make the parking experience more enjoyable. PARKing perceives the car as part of a whole
urban complex, using it to create a symbolic decorative city element.

so we are not free to park where we want...the color of my car rules my life...very colorfull sad situation...i don't like it...is not useful... stupid idea....yes, is decorative! but if I see it from a plane!
giovanni, Italy   10.30.09
We need parks for people, not for cars. Less cars take more space...unpractical and doesn't solve problems...

I have enough trouble finding my car in a parking lot as it stands... this will make it more difficult because my vehicles unique color will now be blending in with other cars of the same color. and what is the incentive to park in your designated area? parking close to your destination will most likely always be king.
bill   10.30.09
its pretty, its interesting. not practical.

"PARKing" or how waste time, money and creative energy. well said. A quite idiotic project sorry.
Must we really make parking beautiful or rethink our need of car ? Even if we want make parking beautiful, is this kind of huge parking really relevant when we try to densify our urban areas and not extend them?
And all these french gardens, I don't even find landscape thoughts... I know that it was just a competition, and that's right, we can dream but dream to cause a relevant debate! here there is just...nothing
