nicolas roope ceo of poke london was a speaker at the recent belgrade design week 09.

poke is a creative company which focuses on inventing and making interactive things.
they work primarily on web based projects which they feel is a good avenue in which to
explore their creativity. they build experiences, services and other digital products that
people can engage with.

among the many projects his firm created numerous campaigns for telecommunications
company 'unlimited orange'. they received the 2008 webby award in the category of
'design aesthetic' for their unlimited orange website design.

'balloonacy' - internet balloon race

poke london launched the 'balloonacy' campaign for unlimited orange to promote their
'pay as you go' animal plans for cell phones. 'balloonacy' was the world's first online
balloon race aiming to target the market of 18 -24 year olds. over 42 000 balloonists
and 2000 race host sites took part. a navigable 3d map charting displayed the pilots
progress and balloon current location, all in a race to win a holiday to ibiza.

the 'plumen' project by hulger

nicolas roope owns also hulger. one of their most recent project is 'plumen' designed
by himself. the 'plumen' project is a tubular formation of the three tungsten bulbs
that already exist in the market.



for hulger he explored the possibilities allowed by the tubular material.
the freeform example elongates the plumen's configuration adding a chaotic tangle
into the slender shape.


'pappa phone' by hulger

the first project for hulger were retro style handsets for cellphones. the 'pappa phone'
is the latest edition made with solid wood and brass, where phones can be connected
as a skype phone with a pc or mac.

hulger participated in various designboom marts in new york, tokyo, saint etienne
between 2005 - 2006.
