philippe starck and karl lagerfeld design covers for wallpaper

philippe starck's wallpaper cover

our friends at wallpaper have just released two different covers designed by philippe starck
and karl lagerfeld for their october issue (which they also guest edited). the magazines
hit stores today.

starck's uses three pieces of transparent tracing paper, when used together form
a solid image. lagerfeld's features a new sort of peelable film that allows readers to pull
back the cover to reveal another image underneath.

stupid covers by two overrated hacks

Karl Lagerfeld really only had three options: his man candy Baptiste Giabiconi wearing nothing but a fur wrap,
his man candy Baptiste Giabiconi wearing nothing but high heels, or his man candy Baptiste Giabiconi wearing nothing.
Conversely, Philippe's cover depicts an amoeba, a monkey wearing shoes, and a question mark.
But who says that can't be just as sexy?

is it some coincidence that starcks looks like jasper morrisons no logo cover from icon?

this is, like, so amazing.
who ever heard of using the transparent qualities of vellum to overlay images to form a complete whole? I think the last time I heard of that was when architecture was born.

for god's sakes, I have been noticing more and more of these useless articles appear on designboom recently....I am starting to wonder about the editing board .

either designboom is bored or perhaps in bed with some of these folks?

i used to like designboom because of it's exposure to fresh new things - but after seeing shite articles twice in a row, I am beginning to lose interest.
