helicopter boyz in yomiuri land
helicopter boyz in yomiuri land

our previous post on the nikon’s point and shoot digital camera with a built-in projector led us to find
this unusual video showcasing a most unusual use for the camera. the video shows two young japanese
boys outfitted with specially designed bodysuits that have been equipped with a series of cameras.
each boy is shown taking pictures with the new camera and then the show begins. the boys stand alone
on stage with a large screen behind them. they begin to dance at which point their cameras begin
projecting images onto the screen. their dancing is translated onto the screen showing the images they
took earlier. the performance was created by gt inc. for nikon.

If you look closely, the cameras do not project the images onto the scree, esp when they put their hands in front of them while the image remains on the screen. At 2::04 the boy on the right looks left and right, yet the top image remains centered. I think this is just mocap. Also, I like how it is implied that one of the boys jumps from the tower, even though you can easily tell its an adult.

I don't know, if you ask me I think it's pretty genius. Especially the part where they take pictures of the Eiffel tower and the girls and made them walk on screen. The relative "Lameness" of the music and dance is what I think everyone is really reacting to.
