chariot skates

chariot skates

chariot skates are a new form of transportation invented by australian michael jenkins that combine
skating, skiing and bicycling. the product consists of large wheels that fit onto the side of the user’s
foot. the foot is strapped in to a holder that is held in place with a suspension that keeps the ride smooth.
the large wheel has a small back wheel that provides back-up stability. the large wheels allow users to
go on a variety of rough terrain even down bumpy hills. the large wheel design also provides user’s with
the ability to propel themselves at high speeds with minimum effort.

a video would be nice..

Videos of these things on youtube are pretty interesting, but why do they have to be sooo ugly? And who is the target demographic? 40 year old male inventors? Surely younger, sporty folk would help promote these better?

ace don't forget sporty in your 40 year old male analysis.
The videos are over there.

I don't get it. Why the big wheels? Inline-skates exist for years now...

genius!!

i agree with muddler , i didnt get whats the use of the big wheels !
sara   05.08.10
To Muddler and Sara, the ability to wear your own shoes when commuting, rather than carry them when on inline skates might be a plus, also no ankle stress, which is a big factor. The current cost of them however, means few will be using them as a commuter. If they were manufactured out of plastics rather than carbon fibre, it would lower the cost drastically, without adding drastically in the weight department, making them a better proposition for the commuter.
