google goggles is a new type of search engine that allows users to make searches by taking pictures using
their phone. the program is a mobile application for google’s android operating system. using the camera
built into their phone, users simply have to snap a photo of an object and the object will be searched by
google. some sample searches include pictures of art works, landmarks, book and even business cards.
the software is also linked to other mobile applications, so that once a photo of a business card is
snapped, the card owner’s contact info will be added to the phone’s address book. another interesting
application is looking at local businesses through the camera. google goggles will automatically display
the name of each location using the phone’s built in GPS and compass and provide further information.
