piano gloves

piano gloves

piano gloves is a prototype design by scott garner that enables users to play a full size piano without any
piano present. the design is composed of two digitally enhanced gloves that use arduino and processing
to track the player’s movements and create the corresponding piano notes. the user puts on the gloves
and then plays the piano on any flat surface, such as a desk or table. the gloves are spatially aware and
can know what notes the user is intending to play. the gloves are in the early stages of development
and garner says he has ‘a lot of ideas for new features on both the software and hardware side of things.’

this isnt too good of an idea to be honest
its a waste of your time
they also seem difficult to use

Wicked sweet idea to be honest.
Good use of your time.
Seems like after some tuning they'd be pretty intuitive to use.

Would be very interested in seeing the final product, keep at it!

an easy controller that wouldnt limit the use of both hands would be to put buttons on your feet, say on the toe and the heel, so thats 4 buttons right there

is it just me or is this guy hot?
dayumm   05.28.10
Nice idea for future development you may want to also consider making a wider button pat or moving the buttons to the pads of the fingers so it could play more like a piano instead of you having to basically poke whatever it is you are playing on.

Awesome - going wireless will be super cool! Keep up the good work.

Don't these exist already?

Buttons on gloves - dissappointing. It needs some kind of space sensing device so that you have an imaginary keyboard on which invisible keys can be played by any fingers at any time. This idea is so basic I wouldn't have loaded it up for all to view at this early stage.

Very cumbersome at this point, but very cool concept. Getting them to a point that a pianist could make great music with them will be the trick, but will be an awesome achievement. Good luck

Does Design try to destroy all the affect in this fucking world ?
Affect Party   05.28.10
You could install the shift buttons into the palm of the glove, close to the wrist.

Hi
Could they be wirless ? So you could move away from needing to be tied to the table top? Then you could dance the music!!

Keep going they could be great!!
suegregor   05.29.10
So i can play 10 notes, all in major key?

Just like a piano my ass.

Marvelous gloves!

This action proof to be a win, win situation. This is a true art work, which will be a success story.

This conversation is going no where. It’s lacking the place of a
good leader to head the things to come out on conclusion.
