drum glove system



when we featured scott garner’s piano gloves on designboom last week, we quickly heard from a group
of students from artesis university college of antwerp who created their own musical gloves. arnoud den
besten, kristo de pooter, sam vesters and thomas leterme teamed up to develop technology that would
allow users to tap the gloves on a flat surface and recreate the sound of a full drum kit through a specially
designed speaker backpack. the system would enable multiple users to combine their drumming together,
even incorporating looping effects.

no no no. take apart a MIDI, replace the pads with accelerometers like those found in wii controllers and place them in hands, feet and head - dance that makes its own music, think of all those dance teams competing while making their own music. if the accelerometers were fed to some sort of gyroscope, maybe toggling between instruments can be achieved. but the objective must be to enhance the dancing, not to inhibit or alter because of drum cues for example
