LG electronics: solar hybrid air conditioner

'LG solar hybrid air conditioner'

LG electronics announced yesterday the debut of the first eco-friendly solar hybrid air
conditioner in korea. this new product provides up to 70 watts of power per hour via
solar cell modules attached to the top of this outdoor unit.

according to the korean manufacturer, this new hybrid system is capable of reducing
around 212kg of CO2 over 10 years, equivalent to 780 pine trees (over the same period).

Great,
Hope many more things will start working on the renewable energy sources.
Narendra Valanju   06.18.10
does it come with the girl?

Air conditioning is the wrong way.
Better buildings are the better.
I guess, this air conditioner wastes a lot of energy
which does not come from the solar cells.

nice! hope that the price is reasonable...

I agree with regviel that keeping the building from warming up in the first place is far more efficient. Secondly, this panel is a drop in the bucket compared to the power that the unit will actually require when operating ; kind of like blowing on the sail of your sailboat to go faster. Lastly, the girl is cute and the only redeeming quality of the idea!

regviel - Have you ever serviced an A/C? Have you ever sold one? Do you have any idea what you are talking about. When it's 115 outside in AZ, your green buildings just don't get the job done. What do you suggest we do?

70 watts, I need to run it longer than 30 seconds every other day. Need more watts!!!

Hey good news if it works and saves energy and money tooooooooooo.
Hope it is cost affective also.
Nothing like it ,if it is in India /dubai or any hot country, where almost 10/11 months are hot.It has become necessity to have a.c.

no home central AC operates on a 70 watt per hour
solar panel by LG is good enough for powering up a bulb
suslik   06.21.10
You must have missed the info about the way it works. It isn't using the same old tech to do the job, and btw, that bulb has changed too, and outputs less heat.
qmark   06.22.10
Ok, now, how about making these things look nice. Too much often we see beatiful facedes and windows with these ugly looking boxes hanging out.
Daniel   06.22.10
we have them here in iraq- the non-hybrid ones that is. they come in single-room varieties and i believe up to four rooms. i imagine that the single room variety can probably be powered around 70w, since it cools my office just fine at that consumption.
