opel ampera

opel ampera

while the much anticipated chevrolet volt electric car has yet to be released, its european counterpart,
the opel/vauxhall ampera, was recently test driven by the press. the ampera is based on the volt with
a modified front-end and slightly tweaked design. the design is an  extended-range battery car, which
means it mostly runs on electricity until the battery is depleted, at which point it switches over to
a small gasoline engine. the battery is charged using a standard household plug and takes about
3 hours to give the car a 40 mile driving range. the ampera will go on sale in 2012 while the chevrolet
volt is expected to be released later this year.

You know, I honestly thought I was looking at an Acura CSX at first.

The front of the car looks like one of those prisoners with tear drop prison tattoos under the its eyes?

Its sad to see worst designs of the electric cars, they look like 90s designs, why do the designers or companies think that electric cars should look that way? Anyway I'm happy that companies started to produce electric cars even they are late for at least 10 years.

i agree with iskender
why do all these cars look so plastic.
someone thought they have to make it look like a honda or toyota or a transformer
lots of extra dynamic styled on that make it look like a toy
saw a tesla on the street recently and it was just a nice small (sports-)car

Yes, a poorly done and over decorated Acura.
This auto is completely lacking appeal.
It looks like a blob with plant-on design cues.
Really a disappointment but not surprising considering
its from GM. General Malaise
rcvs1   06.30.10
so much detail that you could spread it out over two or three cars and still have style
G_MAN   07.01.10
Over designed and plain ugly in my opinion.

I agree about car companies think that electric=weird trying to be futuristic, and they end up with these ugly kind of cars.

It looks too much like an acura in the front and a honda in the back, itīs like they are trying to sell there products reminding others that sold already better (since the prius solds good, letīs copy the general shape, insta winner! Nope...).

Really, and i would say "come on, you can do better", but after reading "GM", I donīt think so... :/

I do not agree. In my opinion it looks great. But I generaly like this kind of "massive" cars.

The are is definitely Awesome. I like the front.. very unique and attractive as well. Definitely love the back part more space for groceries or other things for camping trips with family.
