self lacing shoes

self lacing shoes

inspired by the movie ‘back to the future II', blake bevin experimented with creating a pair of self-lacing
shoes. while his solution isn’t the most stylish option the mechanism he installed on the shoes does in
fact work. the project is chronicled in an instructables page and utilizes an arduino microcontroller.
the user steps into the shoes and activates force sensors on the shoe beds. this in turn triggers two servo
motors which apply tension to the laces and tighten the show around the user’s feet. perhaps one day
we may see something similar to this on a shoe, but until then bevin’s solution will have do.

Very nice idea, but a time traveller Delorean would be useful too.

Nice idea...but too much electronics visible in that design. Somehow has to reduce them.

this is an excellelent idea! reminds me of back to the future - the screen in the future!
somehow they still have this aura of being retro but futuristic!

I so want a pair!
