mouseless project
mouseless project

MIT researchers including pranav mistry has developed a computer control system that works just like
a mouse, without a physical mouse being present. users place their hand on a flat surface and move it
around as they would with a mouse, clicking the table and scrolling. the mouseless system tracks the
user’s hand with an infrared laser beam and an infrared camera. customized software tracks the user’s
movements and interacts digitally as if a mouse were present. while many interaction system require
special digitally enhanced surfaces or wearable controls, the mouseless project requires neither,
allowing the user to be unencumbered by any technology. the lack of special equipment means this
system can currently be assembled for around 20 USD and could drastically drop in price in the
near future.

Very good idea, should help people with RSI.
I think it can be used as basis for some more advanced movement based interaction system.
