this coming friday will mark the debut of amzon’s third generation kindle e reader. the new device was
announced earlier in the month and is 21 percent smaller and 15 percent lighter than the previous model.
the device still uses the 6 inch black and white e-ink screen as with previous iterations, despite pressure
from other colour e readers on the market. however the kindle 3 will have a 20 percent faster refresh rate
that the previous model. the device will be available in graphite and white and two different
configurations. one model will sell for 139 USD and come with wifi only, while the 189 USD model
will come with wifi and 3G connectivity. on board storage is now at 4 GB and battery life can be as long
as one month. along with all the hardware upgrades the device also has a more streamlined design.
